The mission of the International Functional Electrical

Stimulation Society, Inc.™ is to promote the

research, application, and understanding of electrical

stimulation as it is utilized in the field of medicine

through meetings, tutorials, publications, and

the exchange of information.

DGBMT – Deutsche Gesellschaft für

Biomedizinische Technik im VDE

German scientists in the field of biomedical engineering

are organized in the DGBMT, which was

founded in 1972. The Society merged with the VDE

in 2001 and now has over 1,800 members including

physicians, engineers, scientists and companies.

Institute of Microsystem Technology (IMTEK)

The IMTEK at the University of Freiburg is unique in

18 faculty and over 200 research and technical

technology.
